AP Fact Check Unit Issues Clarification on Viral Transfer Suicide Claim
The Andhra Pradesh government has issued a clarification after social media posts claimed that a government employee attempted suicide because he was not granted a transfer to Telangana.
The AP Fact Check unit said the reports circulating online were false and misleading. Officials stated that the employee mentioned in the viral posts did not attempt suicide.
Viral Claim Circulates on Social Media
Several posts on social media alleged that a government employee named Avinash Singh had tried to take his life after repeated requests for a transfer to Telangana were not approved.

According to the claim, Avinash Singh had submitted multiple transfer applications but did not receive a response from the commissioner. The posts also alleged that he wrote a letter to the Chief Secretary warning that he would die if the transfer was not granted.
The same posts further claimed that Avinash Singh’s condition had become critical after the alleged suicide attempt.
Government Issues Official Clarification
Responding to the viral reports, the AP Fact Check division said the claims were completely incorrect.
Officials confirmed that Avinash Singh works as an Office Subordinate in the office of the Director of the Andhra Pradesh Information and Public Relations Department at the AP Secretariat publicity cell.
The fact-check unit said the social media report circulating from an account named Feed (@TeluguFeedSite) was baseless.
Employee Releases Video Statement
Authorities said Avinash Singh himself clarified the situation through a video message.
In the video, he reportedly confirmed that he had not attempted suicide and described the circulating posts as false.
The AP Fact Check unit said the claims were fabricated and urged the public not to believe or share such misinformation.
Inter-State Transfer Process Ongoing
Officials also explained that the process for interstate employee transfers is already underway.
According to an official communication issued by the commissioner dated 19/02/2026, Avinash Singh’s name appears in the list of employees seeking transfer to Telangana.
The fact-check unit said his name appears at serial number 472 in the transfer list.
Authorities added that the relevant data has already been updated and forwarded to the Telangana government for further action.
Warning Against Misinformation
Officials said spreading such false claims during an ongoing administrative process can create unnecessary confusion among employees and the public.
They urged social media users to verify information through official sources before sharing posts related to government matters.
