Road development has emerged as a central focus in Telangana Budget 2026, with the state preparing for a major expansion of its transport network. Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy stated that works worth more than one lakh crore rupees are currently underway across Telangana.
The push reflects the government’s emphasis on strengthening connectivity and supporting long-term infrastructure growth.

Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, along with Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, reviewed proposals related to the Roads, Buildings, and Cinematography departments at the Secretariat. The meeting assessed progress of allocations made in the previous budget and examined planning priorities for the upcoming financial year.
The discussions focused on execution timelines, monitoring of ongoing work,s and ensuring realistic project planning.
Focus on Major Road Corridors
The minister highlighted the Regional Ring Road as one of the key infrastructure initiatives under the government’s development strategy. He said strengthening the road network forms a core part of the broader “Rising Telangana 2047” vision under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
Several major corridors are at various stages of progress, including expansion of the Hyderabad–Vijayawada National Highway, development of the Future City to Bandar Port road, and the Raviryala to Srisailam route.
NH-65 Expansion and Connectivity Plans
Komatireddy Venkat Reddy stated that the eight-lane expansion work on National Highway 65 will commence soon. Once completed, the project is expected to significantly improve travel efficiency between Hyderabad and Vijayawada, with travel time projected to reduce to around two and a half hours.
The government is also focusing on strengthening coordination with the Union government for project implementation and funding.
Emphasis on Transparency and Economic Impact
The minister stressed the importance of transparency in the utilisation of both central and state funds for infrastructure works. He said improved road connectivity would help attract investment, support industrial growth, and generate employment opportunities across Telangana.
The large-scale road expansion under Budget 2026 is expected to play a key role in shaping the state’s infrastructure and mobility framework in the coming years.
