A special POCSO Court in Ongole has sentenced a man to ten years of rigorous imprisonment for sexually assaulting a minor girl. The judgment was delivered by POCSO Court Judge K. Shailaja after the court found the accused guilty following the completion of trial proceedings.
The court also imposed a fine of ₹6,000 on the convict, identified as Nallagorla Srinivasa Rao, aged 46. The ruling came after a detailed examination of evidence and witness statements presented during the trial.
Incident and Case Background
The offence dates back to September 29, 2020, when the accused committed sexual assault on a seven-year-old girl in the Karamchedu mandal of the Bapatla district. Following the incident, a case was registered and investigated under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
After the investigation was completed, the matter was placed before the POCSO Court in Ongole for trial. The prosecution presented material evidence and testimonies to establish the charges against the accused.
Court Findings and Compensation
Upon evaluating the case, the court concluded that the offence had been proven beyond doubt. Based on the findings, the judge pronounced a sentence of ten years of rigorous imprisonment along with a monetary penalty.
In addition to the punishment, the government has announced financial assistance of ₹5 lakh for the victim as part of the victim compensation provisions. The compensation aims to support the minor and her family following the incident.
