Kadapa Police probe father selling two-month-old infant for Rs 50,000

Kadapa Police have taken up a case after a man allegedly sold his two-month-old infant in Mydukur town. The incident occurred in Revenue Colony and came to light after the child’s mother informed relatives.
The accused, Bala Kumar, is a mason by profession and a resident of the same locality. He allegedly sold his third child, a two-month-old boy, for Rs 50,000.
Family details and sequence of events
Bala Kumar and his wife Lakshminarayanamma have been married for around ten years and have two children. Two months ago, she delivered a third child.
According to Lakshminarayanamma, her husband took her to the government hospital in Chennur stating that it was for a family planning operation. She later alleged that the infant was sold during this period without her consent.
She also raised allegations that some staff at the government hospital were involved in the transaction.
Threats prevented early complaint
Lakshminarayanamma stated that she was threatened by her husband and warned not to disclose the matter. Due to fear, she remained silent for some time.
Later, she shared the information with her relatives, following which the matter reached ICDS officials.
ICDS and police intervene
After receiving the information, ICDS authorities conducted a preliminary inquiry and alerted the police. A case was registered and further investigation was initiated.
Police teams traced the infant and ensured that the child was safely handed over to the mother.
Investigation into wider role continues
Police are examining all aspects of the case, including the allegations regarding involvement of hospital staff in the incident.
The case has caused concern in the area, and officials are continuing the investigation to identify all those involved.
