Joint raid uncovers illegal storage in Banjara Hills
In a major operation in Hyderabad, Task Force Police arrested 10 persons involved in an illegal gas cylinder racket in Banjara Hills. The accused were storing gas cylinders unlawfully and selling them at prices higher than government rates.
The joint raid was conducted by the Jubilee Hills Zone Task Force along with Banjara Hills Police. The illegal storage was identified near Nagarjuna X Road, where cylinders were kept inside a cremation ground premises, raising serious safety concerns.
Cylinders and vehicles worth ₹21.88 lakh seized
During the operation, police seized 414 gas cylinders. Authorities also confiscated 10 vehicles, including DCMs, a Bolero, Tata Ace vehicles, and autos used for transportation and distribution.
The total value of the seized property has been estimated at ₹21.88 lakh. Officials indicated that the scale of the seizure points to an organised network engaged in illegal supply and overpricing.
Main accused operated from Shamshabad
The prime accused has been identified as Mohammed Ameer, who operated under the name “Metro Gas Agency.” Police said he was running the business from Shamshabad while using the Banjara Hills location for illegal storage.
From this stock, gas cylinders were supplied to customers at rates higher than government-fixed prices. The operation bypassed safety norms and regulatory procedures, posing a risk to public safety.
Action based on credible intelligence
The raid was led by Task Force Inspector Yadender and his team based on credible information. All accused persons and seized materials have been handed over to Banjara Hills Police for further investigation.
Police said strict action will continue against illegal gas distribution networks that violate safety norms and exploit consumers.

Authorities have been increasing vigilance against illegal LPG storage and black marketing in urban areas due to safety risks and pricing violations. Enforcement teams are continuing operations to curb such activities.
