Venkaiah Naidu urges Cabinet approval for Amaravati Bill
Venkaiah Naidu Discusses Amaravati Bill with Amit Shah
Amaravati, March 28 – Former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu held discussions with Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the legal status of the Andhra Pradesh capital Amaravati Bill. Naidu urged that the Assembly-passed Bill be placed before the Cabinet and approved at the earliest.
Reminder of Amaravati Foundation
During the meeting, Naidu recalled that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone for Amaravati in 2015. He stressed that the capital project had already received financial support from the Centre and requested that future hurdles be avoided.
Request for Cabinet Approval
Naidu conveyed that the Bill, endorsed by the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, required Cabinet clearance to gain full legal backing. He pressed for its inclusion in upcoming Cabinet proceedings to ensure formal approval.
Amit Shah’s Response
According to Naidu, Amit Shah responded positively to the request. Shah reportedly stated that all necessary clearances from his ministry were complete and that only Cabinet-level approval remained. Naidu expressed confidence that the Union government would move forward on the matter.
Context of Amaravati Development
Amaravati was announced as the capital of Andhra Pradesh after the bifurcation of the state in 2014. The project has since faced delays and political debates over its future. The latest discussions between Naidu and Shah highlight continuing efforts to secure legal and administrative clarity for the capital’s development.
