Police Officials Confirm Head Constable Death After Heart Attack During Training
A head constable died after suffering a heart attack during a training exercise in Mangalagiri in Andhra Pradesh. The incident occurred during a running event conducted as part of Physical Proficiency Test (PPT) training at the Sixth Battalion in Mangalagiri.
The sudden death created shock among police personnel participating in the training programme on Tuesday.
Collapse during running event
According to officials, the deceased was Head Constable Venkateswara Rao, a resident of Ramavarappadu in Vijayawada. He had arrived at the Mangalagiri Sixth Battalion to take part in PPT training.
During the session, participants were asked to run a distance of 3.2 kilometres as part of the fitness assessment. Venkateswara Rao joined the running event along with other personnel.
However, shortly after the race began, he reportedly complained of discomfort and suddenly collapsed while holding his chest.
Shifted to hospital for treatment
Police personnel present at the training ground immediately responded and arranged for medical assistance. Venkateswara Rao was rushed to the nearby All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for treatment.
Doctors at the hospital examined him after he was brought in. Medical authorities later confirmed that the head constable had died due to a heart attack.
Shock among police personnel
The incident caused deep shock within the Mangalagiri Sixth Battalion, where the training programme was being conducted. Colleagues and officials expressed grief over the sudden death of the officer.
According to police sources, Venkateswara Rao is survived by his wife and two children.
Police officials conveyed condolences to the family following the incident. The sudden loss of the head constable during a routine training exercise has left fellow personnel in the battalion saddened.
