Khammam Auto Driver Murder Case: Wife, Four Arrested
Telangana Police Arrest Five in Khammam Auto Driver Murder Case
Police in Telangana have solved the murder case of auto driver Chaganti Ravi, 52, which created shock in Khammam. Investigators said the victim was allegedly killed in a planned conspiracy linked to an insurance claim worth ₹66 lakh.
According to police, Ravi’s wife Prasanthi and four others were arrested for their role in the crime. The accused were later remanded after the investigation uncovered the sequence of events behind the killing.
Insurance Policy Taken in Victim’s Name
Police said Ravi, a resident of Khammam city, had been suffering from health problems for some time and was addicted to alcohol. Believing that he might die due to illness, his wife reportedly planned to secure insurance money.
Last July, Prasanthi, with the help of her relative Srinivas, arranged an insurance policy worth ₹66 lakh in Ravi’s name. The policy was expected to provide a large payout in the event of his death.
However, investigators found that Ravi’s health gradually improved in the months that followed. Police said this development reportedly frustrated Prasanthi and led her to plan the murder in order to claim the insurance amount.
Conspiracy With Four Accused
Police said Prasanthi allegedly entered into an agreement with Srinivas and three others identified as Jogi Rajkumar, Jogi Venkatesh and Jogi Rambabu.
The accused were promised half of the insurance payout if they carried out the killing. Investigators said the group then prepared a plan to murder Ravi and stage the incident as a road accident.
Murder Staged as Road Accident
According to police findings, the plan was executed on the 2nd of this month. Ravi was allegedly made to consume large quantities of alcohol before being taken to the outskirts of VV Palem.
Police said the accused then hit him with a car in an attempt to portray the incident as a road accident.
However, investigators developed suspicion about the circumstances surrounding the death. A deeper probe, supported by technical evidence, revealed the alleged conspiracy behind the incident.
Police Action and Arrests
Following the investigation, police arrested Prasanthi, identified as the main conspirator, along with Srinivas, Jogi Rajkumar, Jogi Venkatesh and Jogi Rambabu.
All five accused were taken into custody and later remanded as part of the ongoing legal process.
The case had initially caused widespread concern in Khammam due to the circumstances surrounding the death of the auto driver.
