Hyderabad Police Raid Adulterated Ghee Unit in Banjara Hills
Hyderabad Police Conduct Raid on Adulterated Ghee Unit in Banjara Hills
Hyderabad police uncovered an adulterated ghee manufacturing unit operating in Banjara Hills during a joint raid conducted by the Hyderabad Task Force and Masab Tank police. The operation led to the arrest of the unit’s owner and the seizure of large quantities of adulterated products and manufacturing equipment.
The facility was reportedly operating under the name “Pride Dairy.” During the raid, police arrested the owner, Mohammed Junaid Hussain, and confiscated adulterated ghee and related materials valued at approximately ₹18.26 lakh.
The enforcement action was carried out under the supervision of Additional DCP Ande Srinivasa Rao.
Adulteration Using Low-Quality Ingredients
Police said the accused was allegedly manufacturing fake ghee by mixing low-grade palm oil, vanaspati and other substances with cow and buffalo milk cream.
The mixture was then processed and packaged as genuine ghee before being distributed in the market. Investigators said the product was sold to members of the public, hotels, and organisers of functions, who believed they were purchasing authentic ghee.
Authorities noted that the adulteration process allowed the operator to produce large volumes at lower cost while presenting the product as a premium dairy item.
Police Register Case Under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita
Following the raid, a criminal case was registered at the Masab Tank Police Station. Police booked the accused under Sections 318(4), 274, and 275 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Officials said the case relates to the preparation and sale of adulterated food products intended for public consumption.
The seized materials included adulterated ghee stocks and equipment used in the manufacturing process.
Food Safety Concerns Under Scrutiny
Authorities indicated that the operation forms part of ongoing enforcement efforts to identify and shut down illegal food production units operating within the city.
Food adulteration cases remain a concern for enforcement agencies due to potential health risks associated with the consumption of substandard or contaminated products.
Police said further investigation is underway to examine the supply chain and distribution network associated with the seized products.
