March 2026 Bank Holiday List Announced by RBI India
RBI Announces March 2026 Bank Holiday Schedule
The Reserve Bank of India has released the official bank holiday calendar for March 2026, outlining nationwide closures on designated Sundays and second and fourth Saturdays, along with several regional festival holidays.
Banks across the country will remain closed on March 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29, which fall on Sundays. In addition, March 14 and March 28, being the second and fourth Saturdays respectively, will also be observed as non-working days for banks.
Festival-Based Regional Closures
Apart from the standard weekly holidays, several cities will observe additional bank holidays on account of local and religious festivals during the month.
Regional holidays are scheduled on March 2, 3, 4, 13, 17, 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, and 31. These closures are linked to celebrations such as Holi, Ugadi, Eid, Sri Rama Navami, and Mahavir Jayanti, depending on the state and local administrative notifications.
As festival dates vary across regions, customers are advised to verify the specific holiday list applicable to their city or state before planning branch visits. While physical branches will remain closed on notified dates, digital banking services, including online transactions, UPI payments, and ATM facilities, are expected to function as usual.
Advisory for Customers
With multiple holidays falling in March, particularly during festival periods, customers are encouraged to schedule essential banking transactions in advance. Cheque clearances and branch-based services may be impacted in cities observing regional holidays.
