Medaram Jathara Hundi Counting Completed in Hanumakonda
Endowments Department Completes Medaram Jathara Hundi Counting Process
Counting Concludes After Week-Long Exercise
The hundi counting process of the Medaram Sammakka–Saralamma Maha Jathara concluded on Wednesday. The counting began on February 5 at the TTD Kalyana Mandapam in Hanumakonda, where officials opened and examined a total of 828 hundis containing offerings from devotees.
The exercise was conducted over a week under tight security arrangements, with nearly 400 staff members working under the supervision of Endowments Department officials.
Total Revenue Reaches Rs 13.25 Crore
Officials reported that the total income from the hundis amounted to Rs 13,25,83,269. Along with cash, the hundis contained foreign currency, demonetised notes, and ornaments made of gold and silver.
The counting process involved detailed verification of all offerings to ensure proper accounting as per prescribed procedures.
Comparison With Previous Jathara Collections
In the previous Medaram Maha Jathara, income of Rs 13.25 crore was recorded from 540 hundis. Despite a significant increase to 828 hundis this time, the overall revenue remained nearly at the same level.
Officials observed that while the number of hundis increased considerably, the rise in total collections remained limited.
Earlier updates on hundi collections during the Jathara period were reported in a detailed coverage of Medaram Jathara hundi collections reaching Rs 6.04 crore.
Funds to Support Temple Development
The Medaram Jathara, known for attracting lakhs of devotees, continues to reflect strong public faith through substantial offerings. Authorities stated that the collected cash and valuables will be deposited in banks in accordance with government norms.
The revenue generated from hundi collections is expected to contribute to temple-related and development activities connected with the Jathara.
