The government confirmed that salaries for contract and outsourcing staff will now be credited directly into their bank accounts on the first day of every month, on par with regular government employees. The new system is scheduled to come into effect from April.
Chief Minister outlines financial commitments
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said the government remains committed to employee welfare, noting that a recent dearness allowance (DA) release has already been implemented. He stated that the DA decision alone would place an additional burden of ₹227 crore on the state exchequer.
The Chief Minister reiterated that monthly salaries for government employees are being credited on the first of every month and that a ₹1.02 crore insurance cover is being provided to each employee. He added that similar certainty in salary payments would now be extended to contract and outsourcing workers.
Shift away from third-party agencies
At present, contract and outsourcing employees receive salaries through private agencies engaged by the government. Under this arrangement, the government releases funds to agencies, which then transfer monthly wages to employee accounts.
However, the administration has received multiple complaints regarding agency practices. These include alleged wage deductions, creation of fake employee records to claim funds, and failure to deposit provident fund and ESI contributions credited by the government.
To address these concerns, the government has decided to eliminate third-party involvement in salary disbursal for these categories of employees. Salaries will be deposited directly by the government into individual bank accounts, removing the agency layer entirely.
Administrative impact and scale
Officials indicated that the decision aims to bring an end to irregularities and ensure full payment of wages and statutory benefits. The move is expected to benefit nearly five lakh contract and outsourcing employees working in various departments across Telangana.
The announcement follows earlier government measures on employee payments, including the recent DA release reported earlier on CityBuzzDaily, and comes amid ongoing administrative efforts to streamline salary systems and financial accountability.
