TVK Chief Vijay to Appear Before CBI Today in Karur Stampede Probe
New Delhi: TVK party president Vijay is scheduled to appear before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in New Delhi today in connection with the investigation into the Karur stampede case.
Summons Issued After Supreme Court Order
The CBI issued a summons to Vijay six days ago, directing him to cooperate with the probe. The agency is examining the circumstances surrounding a deadly stampede that occurred during a political rally in Karur last September, in which 41 people lost their lives.
Court-Mandated Investigation
The investigation follows directions from the Supreme Court of India, which ordered a CBI inquiry into the incident after concerns were raised over the handling of the case. The apex court’s intervention paved the way for a federal investigation into the events that led to the tragedy.
Appearance in New Delhi
In compliance with the summons, Vijay is expected to present himself before CBI officials in the national capital today. The agency is likely to question him as part of its ongoing efforts to establish accountability and reconstruct the sequence of events surrounding the rally.
