Sobhan Babu, born Uppuchalapati Sobhanachala Rao on January 14, 1937, in Chinna Nandigama of Krishna district, passed away on March 20, 2008, in Chennai at the age of 71.

He was born into a farming family and developed an early interest in acting during his schooling at Mylavaram. His participation in stage plays during his college days at Guntur A.C. College helped him gain recognition.
Though he enrolled in a law course in Madras, his focus gradually shifted towards cinema. He entered films with Daivabalam in 1959 and later gained attention through Bhakta Sabari.
Establishing himself as a leading hero
Sobhan Babu initially took up supporting and mythological roles before transitioning into lead roles. Films such as Manushulu Marali marked a turning point in his career and helped him establish himself as a leading actor.
