Nalgonda: Devotees Injured During Temple Fire Ritual at Aamanagallu Festival
A religious festival at the Sri Parvati Ramalingeswara Swamy temple in Aamanagallu of Nalgonda district turned tense after several devotees were injured during a traditional fire-walking ritual.
The incident occurred while devotees were participating in the Agnigundam ritual, a ceremonial act in which worshippers walk across burning embers as part of temple festivities. According to information available from the scene, the situation suddenly became chaotic when devotees began pushing while attempting to cross the fire pit.
Sudden Rush During Fire Ritual
Witnesses said the rush developed quickly as a large number of devotees attempted to cross the burning pit at the same time. The crowd movement resulted in a brief stampede-like situation near the ritual site.
As devotees pushed each other in the rush, some participants lost balance and fell directly into the burning embers. The moment created panic among those present at the venue.
Several devotees nearby immediately reacted and pulled the victims out of the fire pit to prevent further injuries.
Eleven Devotees Sustain Serious Burns
Officials at the site confirmed that at least eleven devotees sustained serious injuries in the incident. The injured individuals suffered burn injuries after falling into the fire during the ritual.
Temple volunteers and other devotees quickly intervened and assisted the victims before emergency medical help arrived.
Those injured were shifted from the temple premises and transported to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.
Immediate Medical Response
Local organisers and devotees coordinated efforts to ensure that the injured received urgent medical attention. Ambulances and private vehicles were used to move the victims to hospitals without delay.
Medical teams are currently treating the injured devotees. Further details about their condition were not immediately available.
The incident occurred during the ongoing temple festival celebrations at the Sri Parvati Ramalingeswara Swamy temple, which attracts a large number of devotees every year.
Authorities and organisers are expected to review safety arrangements at the ritual site following the accident.
