Khammam Excise Seizes 101 Kg Ganja, Arrests Accused
Excise Team Intercepts Suspected Drug Transport in Khammam
A major drug seizure was reported in Wyra of Khammam district after the Excise Enforcement team intercepted a vehicle suspected of transporting narcotics. The operation took place on Tuesday during routine surveillance when officials noticed a car bearing a Haryana number plate moving under suspicious circumstances.
The vehicle was stopped and searched by the Khammam Excise Enforcement team, leading to the discovery of a large quantity of banned substances allegedly being transported illegally.
Large Quantity of Ganja and Hashish Oil Seized
During the inspection, officials recovered 101.2 kilograms of dry ganja and 2.7 kilograms of hashish oil from the vehicle. Authorities said the contraband was being transported from Odisha to Hyderabad through an illegal network.
The total value of the seized narcotics is estimated at around ₹67.20 lakh. The substances were taken into custody for further investigation and legal procedures.
Accused Arrested, Vehicle and Phone Seized
Police arrested Mohammad Aslam, a resident of Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, in connection with the case. The vehicle used for transportation and a mobile phone were also seized as part of the investigation.
Following the seizure, the accused was handed over to the Wyra Excise Station for further legal action. Officials are continuing their probe to identify possible links and the wider network behind the illegal transport of narcotics.
Focus on Anti-Narcotics Enforcement
The incident highlights ongoing enforcement efforts by excise authorities to curb illegal drug movement across state borders. Surveillance and vehicle checks remain a key part of operations aimed at preventing narcotics distribution and trafficking.
