The accused, identified as Alisha alias Pandu, reportedly targeted the woman after she married another person. Police have taken the accused and his father into custody following the incident.
Victim’s background and recent marriage
The injured woman, Nookaratnam, hails from Kakinada and was working as a housekeeping staff in Miyapur. She had lost her husband earlier and is the mother of two daughters.
According to available details, she married a man named Prasad on the 20th of last month. The marriage is said to have triggered resentment in the accused, who also worked in the same locality as a cook.
Incident unfolded at victim’s residence
On the 19th of this month, Alisha, along with his father Lalu and friend John, went to Nookaratnam’s residence. They allegedly pressured her to accompany them.
When she refused, Alisha reportedly attacked her with a knife he had brought along. The sudden assault left the woman severely injured, causing panic in the area.
Police action and investigation
Following the attack, local residents rushed the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police, upon receiving information, responded promptly and arrested Alisha and his father Lalu.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to ascertain all aspects of the incident.
