Narayanpet Police Arrest Seven in Minor Assault, Blackmail Case
Incident at a government school in Maddur mandal
Police in Narayanpet district have arrested seven persons in connection with the sexual assault of a Class 10 student and subsequent blackmail. The incident took place at a government school in Mominapur village under Maddur mandal.
District SP Vineeth confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on Sunday.
Teacher accused of repeated assault
According to police, Chandeppalli Swami, a Telugu teacher at the school, allegedly assaulted the student multiple times after gaining her trust. The incidents reportedly occurred within the school premises.
The case came to light following the circulation of a video linked to the incident.
Video recorded, shared for blackmail
Another teacher, Gurunath Reddy, who reportedly had personal differences with Swami, recorded visuals of the two in a computer room using a hidden camera. The footage was later shared with Gulla Ravi, the husband of the local sarpanch.
Police said the video was used as a tool for blackmail.
Group attempts extortion; video goes viral
Gulla Ravi, along with his associates Anand, Vijay Kumar, and Mekala Ravi, allegedly threatened the teacher, the person who recorded the video, and the headmaster Chennakeshavulu, seeking money.
When no agreement was reached, the accused reportedly uploaded the video on social media. The footage became widely circulated on March 26, bringing the matter into public attention.
Education department complaint triggers probe
Following the incident, the education department conducted an inquiry and lodged a complaint with the police. A detailed investigation was then initiated under the supervision of DSP Lingayya.
Police said the assault allegations against the teacher were established during the probe.
Arrests made under multiple legal provisions
Those arrested include Chandeppalli Swami, Gurunath Reddy, headmaster Chennakeshavulu, Gulla Ravi, and his three associates. All have been remanded.
Cases have been registered under the POCSO Act and the SC/ST Atrocities Act. Police also seized mobile phones and a camera used in the recording.

The case has raised concerns over safety within educational institutions and the misuse of digital devices. Authorities have indicated that further investigation is ongoing.
