Avinash Reddy Questions Sunitha Over Viveka Case Probe
YSRCP MP Avinash Reddy Questions Sunitha, Flags CBI Probe Gaps
Allegations raised over direction of Viveka case probe
YSR Congress Party MP YS Avinash Reddy has alleged that the investigation into the murder of former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy is being diverted from key facts for political purposes.
Addressing a press conference in Delhi, Avinash Reddy said the probe was being used to benefit Chandrababu Naidu politically, while critical aspects of the case were being overlooked.
Questions over support for the accused and legal actions
Avinash Reddy questioned the stance of Vivekananda Reddy’s daughter, Sunitha Reddy, particularly her alleged support for the accused Dastagiri, who had reportedly confessed to the crime.
He pointed out that while efforts were made to seek cancellation of Dastagiri’s bail in court, Sunitha had engaged senior legal counsel to support him. He also questioned why there was no opposition to the anticipatory bail granted in the case.
Concerns over a missing letter and a delayed disclosure
The MP raised questions about a letter reportedly written by Vivekananda Reddy shortly before his death. He said information about the letter was conveyed by PA Krishna Reddy, yet it was not disclosed until the police arrived.
Avinash Reddy asked why the letter, described as a crucial piece of evidence, was not immediately brought to the attention of authorities and whether withholding it constituted a lapse.
Contradictory statements before the CBI highlighted
He further alleged that Sunitha Reddy gave conflicting statements to the Central Bureau of Investigation regarding her knowledge of the letter.
According to Avinash, she initially acknowledged being informed about the letter through a WhatsApp message but later denied any knowledge, stating she saw it only in the hands of an SP officer. He questioned the inconsistency and the handling of statements by the agency.
Call for a probe into financial and document-related angles
The MP also referred to statements made during the investigation indicating that disputes over financial transactions, including money, diamonds, and land settlements, may have been factors.
He said there were claims that documents were sought before the murder and questioned why these angles were not being pursued further in the investigation.
Political motive allegation and demand for a speedy trial
Avinash Reddy alleged that the case was being prolonged until the next elections to provide political advantage to Chandrababu Naidu.
He said there was an attempt to conduct a targeted investigation with support from influential individuals in Delhi. The MP expressed confidence that the truth would emerge and urged for an early completion of the trial to place facts before the public.
