Tanuku Police Probe Husband’s Attempted Murder of Wife
Tanuku Police Register Case After Husband Attacks Wife With Blade
A man allegedly attempted to kill his wife by slitting her throat with a blade in Tanuku town of West Godavari district. The incident created tension in the area after the injured woman was rushed to hospital by local residents.
The accused has been identified as Karagani Govindu, while the victim is Karagani Dilleswari. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the attack.
Love Marriage Followed by Years of Alleged Harassment
Karagani Govindu and Dilleswari, natives of Cheepurupalli in Srikakulam district, had married around 13 years ago after falling in love. The couple reportedly opposed their families and later moved to Tanuku in search of employment.
Within a year of the marriage, Govindu allegedly began subjecting Dilleswari to harassment. For nearly 12 years, she reportedly faced continuous abuse while managing family responsibilities.
Dilleswari worked at a dry fruit shop in Tanuku to support the household. Despite personal hardships, she continued to provide for the family and care for their children.
Family Hardships and Health Issues
The family also suffered a personal tragedy when their younger son died due to illness. After the loss, Dilleswari continued raising their remaining child while maintaining her job.
A few months ago, Govindu sustained a leg fracture in a road accident. Despite the strained relationship, Dilleswari reportedly cared for him while he was bedridden.
However, Govindu, who was said to be addicted to bad habits, continued to suspect his wife and allegedly subjected her to further harassment.
Police Complaint and Escalating Tensions
Unable to tolerate the situation, Dilleswari approached the police seeking help. She requested assistance to bring her son back after Govindu allegedly took the child away without informing her.
With police help, she managed to bring the boy back to her care. This reportedly angered Govindu, who then allegedly began planning to harm her.
Attack During Motorcycle Ride
According to the sequence of events, Govindu later approached Dilleswari claiming that his health had deteriorated and that he could not walk due to leg pain. He reportedly asked her for help.
Believing his request, Dilleswari allowed him to sit on the back of her motorcycle while she drove. During the ride, Govindu allegedly used a blade he had brought with him and slit her throat.
Both of them fell from the motorcycle following the attack. Govindu fled the spot on the same bike, leaving the injured woman behind.
Police Investigation Underway
Local residents noticed Dilleswari lying injured and immediately shifted her to the Tanuku Government Hospital. Doctors examined her and began treatment.
Police have registered a case in connection with the incident and are currently investigating the matter.
