Telangana Govt Launches Digital Health Card for Women
Telangana Government Launches Digital Health Screening Programme for Women
Digital health profile initiative for women
The Telangana government has initiated a digital health screening programme aimed at monitoring and improving women’s health across the state. The programme introduces a digital health profile system along with a digital health card for women.
Under the initiative, women aged 18 years and above will undergo health screening to detect multiple medical conditions. The health details collected during the screening will be digitally recorded and linked to a unique identification system.
Screening for multiple health conditions
As part of the programme, women will be screened free of cost for around 30 different diseases. These include conditions such as anaemia, diabetes, blood pressure issues, and cancer.
Health officials will document the results of these tests in a digital format. Each participant will be issued a dedicated digital health profile along with a digital health card that contains their recorded medical information.
The objective is to create a structured health database that allows authorities to monitor women’s health conditions and provide timely medical attention when required.
Programme launched on International Women’s Day
The screening programme began on March 8 to coincide with International Women’s Day. The state government has designed the initiative to be implemented in a phased manner.
Officials plan to conduct the screening process in three phases. The aim is to complete health checks for nearly 46 lakh women within a six-month period.
Digital records to support long-term monitoring
By recording medical information digitally, the programme intends to improve continuity in healthcare services for women. The digital health profile and health card will help healthcare workers track health history and follow-up needs more effectively.
The initiative forms part of the state government’s broader effort to strengthen preventive healthcare and ensure early detection of diseases among women across Telangana.
