Jagitiala Police Register POCSO Case After Minor Girl Dies Following Suicide Attempt
Incident Reported in Dharmapuri Mandal Village
A minor girl who had attempted suicide in December has died after undergoing treatment for nearly three months, prompting police to register serious charges against a youth in Jagitiala district of Telangana.
The girl was a resident of Narsayyapalli village in Dharmapuri mandal. She had been staying at her grandmother’s house while pursuing her Intermediate education.
The incident came to light after the girl consumed pesticide on December 8 and left behind a suicide note. Family members rushed her to a hospital in Jagitiala immediately after the incident.
Allegations Against Youth From Same Village
Police identified the accused as Kola Manoj, a youth from the same village. The girl was reportedly related to him as a younger sister in family relations.
According to the complaint, Manoj allegedly gained the girl’s trust in the name of love and later established a physical relationship with her.
The complaint also stated that the accused threatened the girl and warned her not to reveal the matter to anyone. He allegedly threatened to kill both the girl and her brother if the issue was disclosed.
Suicide Attempt After Marriage Refusal
The situation escalated when the girl reportedly asked Manoj to marry her. Police said he refused and dismissed her request.
Following this development, the girl consumed pesticide on December 8. She was first admitted to a hospital in Jagitiala and later shifted to a hospital in Hyderabad for advanced treatment.
Despite prolonged treatment for nearly three months, the girl died on Tuesday night.
Police Register POCSO and Rape Cases
After the girl’s death, her mother filed a complaint with the police. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered against Manoj under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and rape charges.
Police have begun further investigation into the incident and the circumstances that led to the minor’s death.
