The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted a trap operation in Hyderabad and caught a police officer allegedly accepting a bribe. Madhapur Sub-Inspector Vinay was taken into custody after being caught red-handed during the operation carried out by ACB officials.
The officer was allegedly receiving money in exchange for extending assistance in a case. Officials confirmed that the trap was executed after receiving a complaint regarding the demand for illegal gratification.
Cash Seized During Trap Operation
During the operation, ACB officials recovered ₹50,000 from the possession of the Sub-Inspector. The amount was allegedly accepted as a bribe for offering help in connection with a case under his jurisdiction at Madhapur police station.
The seized cash was taken into custody as evidence. Officials carried out standard procedural formalities at the scene following the trap.
Officer Taken Into Custody for Investigation
Following the recovery of the cash, Sub-Inspector Vinay was taken into custody for further investigation. ACB officials are continuing legal and departmental procedures in connection with the case.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau stated that the investigation will proceed as per the established legal process.
