APPSC Releases Group-2 Final Selection List for 891 Posts
APPSC Releases Group-2 Final Selection List Late at Night
The Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) released the final selection list for Group-2 services late on Tuesday night, bringing closure to a long recruitment process initiated in 2023. The commission published the list covering 891 candidates selected against 905 notified vacancies.
Selection Against Notified Vacancies
APPSC had issued a notification for filling 905 Group-2 posts across various departments. In the final list released, selections were made for 891 posts. The commission clarified that 14 vacancies remain unfilled due to category-specific and legal constraints.
Among the unfilled posts, seven belong to the persons with disabilities category, while five are reservation-category posts for which no eligible candidates were available. In addition, two posts under the sports quota have been kept aside following earlier High Court directions.
Legal and Reservation-Related Constraints
The commission stated that candidates had approached the High Court seeking reservation of the two sports quota posts. In view of the ongoing legal proceedings, APPSC has excluded certain posts, including Law Assistant Section Officer (Law ASO) and Excise Sub-Inspector positions, from the current final selection list.
Officials indicated that these exclusions were made strictly in compliance with court orders and prevailing recruitment rules, without deviating from the notified selection process.
Timeline of the Recruitment Process
The Group-2 recruitment notification was issued on December 7, 2023, during the previous YSR Congress Party government. The preliminary examination was conducted on February 25, 2024.
The main examination was held on February 23, 2025. Following the evaluation, APPSC released the results on April 4, 2025. The final selection list issued now completes the recruitment cycle for the majority of notified posts.
Administrative Closure
With the publication of the final selection list, departments concerned are expected to initiate appointment formalities for the selected candidates. The remaining vacancies are likely to be addressed separately, subject to the availability of eligible candidates and the outcome of pending legal matters.
The commission has not indicated any revision to the current list, reiterating that the selections were finalised in accordance with existing rules, reservation norms, and judicial directions.
