The incident involved Gautami, a resident of Rudrangi village. She had completed nine months and four days of pregnancy and was reportedly facing health discomfort when family members shifted her to the hospital in a 108 ambulance.
Nursing Staff Turn Away Patient Over Doctor Unavailability
According to the family, the nursing staff at the Vemulawada Area Hospital told them that a gynecologist was not available at the time. As a result, the pregnant woman was not admitted to the hospital and was asked to leave the premises.
The decision drew strong objections from relatives who accompanied her to the hospital. They expressed anger over the refusal to admit a woman who was in the final stage of pregnancy.
Family members said that the hospital, which is expected to provide emergency medical services, declined to take responsibility for the case due to the absence of a specialist doctor.
Shifted to Sircilla District Hospital in Another Ambulance
After being turned away, the family arranged for another 108 ambulance. The pregnant woman was then shifted to the Area Hospital in Sircilla for medical care.
Relatives stated that the situation forced them to seek treatment elsewhere despite initially approaching the nearest government hospital for assistance.
The episode led to criticism from the family members, who questioned why emergency care was not provided at the Vemulawada facility.
Lack of a Gynecologist Reported for Over a Month
