Trisha Krishnan Explains Why She Called Off Engagement
Trisha Krishnan Opens Up About Calling Off Engagement Over Acting Career
Actor Trisha Krishnan has once again become the subject of public discussion after social media speculation resurfaced around her personal life. The renewed attention comes amid reports that Sangeetha Sornalingam, wife of actor-turned-politician Thalapathy Vijay, has filed for divorce.
The speculation has prompted renewed interest in an earlier episode from Trisha’s life — her broken engagement in 2015.
Engagement Called Off Over Career Decision
In 2015, Trisha Krishnan announced her engagement to Chennai-based businessman Varun Manian. However, the engagement was called off within a few months, and the actor later clarified that the decision was linked to her career choices.
Speaking about the episode in an earlier interview quoted by OnManorama, Trisha said that the person she was supposed to marry had asked her to stop acting.
She stated that she chose her profession instead of stepping away from cinema. According to her remarks, acting remained a non-negotiable part of her life, and she intended to continue working in films rather than leaving the industry after marriage.
Trisha also said she would only consider taking a break from acting during pregnancy. Otherwise, she planned to continue working either in lead roles or in character roles that suited her image.
Viral Appearance With Vijay Sparks Online Chatter
The discussion around Trisha resurfaced recently after she was seen alongside Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam chief Vijay at a wedding reception in Chennai.
A short video of the two attending the event circulated widely on social media, leading to renewed speculation among fans and online users.
Divorce Petition Adds To Public Curiosity
Reports have also emerged that Sangeetha Sornalingam has filed for divorce from Thalapathy Vijay. According to the petition details circulating online, the filing mentions an alleged extramarital relationship with an unnamed actress.
The document reportedly states that since 2021, the respondent had emotionally withdrawn, treated the petitioner with verbal disdain, and forced her to live separately within the matrimonial home.
The petition further alleges that the actor attended public events and travelled abroad with the actress, who regularly shared photographs of those outings on social media.
Long Professional Association In Tamil Cinema
Trisha Krishnan and Thalapathy Vijay have worked together in several Tamil films over the years. Their collaborations include Ghilli (2004), Thirupachi, Aathi, Kuruvi, and their reunion in Leo (2023).
Their on-screen pairing has been widely recognised by Tamil cinema audiences, though neither actor has publicly confirmed any romantic relationship outside their professional collaborations.
As of now, neither Thalapathy Vijay nor Trisha Krishnan has responded to the speculation currently circulating online.
