Tirupati Police Arrest 13 in Student Leaders Kidnap Case
Tirupati police have arrested 13 persons in connection with the kidnapping of student union leaders Vinod Kumar and Akbar. The incident relates to the abduction reported on the 3rd of this month, which led to a detailed investigation into individuals linked to Mohan Babu University’s Vidyaniketan administration.
Among those arrested is Satish, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Vidyaniketan, along with 12 others. Police confirmed that the accused include bouncers and staff members allegedly associated with the institution. Authorities stated that the arrests were made following verification of evidence gathered during the investigation.
Incident Linked to Student Union Activity
The case centres on the alleged kidnapping of student leaders Vinod Kumar and Akbar on the 3rd of this month. The incident drew police attention after reports emerged that the two student leaders were forcibly taken away, prompting immediate tracking and search operations.
Investigators traced the movement of the accused and identified the involvement of individuals connected to Vidyaniketan. The role of each arrested person is being examined to establish how the incident was executed and whether it was pre-planned.
Police said several of the arrested individuals were working as bouncers and staff. Authorities are investigating allegations that bouncers were used to carry out the offence, and whether any organisational direction was involved in coordinating the act.
Vehicles Seized During Investigation
During the course of the operation, police seized three Innova cars and one two-wheeler believed to have been used in the kidnapping. Officials confirmed that the vehicles have been taken into custody as material evidence and are being examined as part of the investigation.
The seizure of vehicles helped investigators reconstruct the movement of the accused and establish links between those involved. Forensic and technical verification related to vehicle usage is being carried out to support the case.
Cross Complaint Filed, Financial Angle Under Probe
Police also registered cases against student union leaders based on a complaint filed by Vidyaniketan PRO Satish. Investigators are examining whether the student leaders had demanded money, as alleged in the complaint, and are verifying the claims through questioning and evidence review.
Authorities confirmed that both the kidnapping allegation and the counter-complaint are under examination. Officials stated that the investigation is proceeding in accordance with legal procedures, and further action will depend on the findings of the probe.
The development follows earlier case proceedings reported in the Tirupati police kidnap case involving Mohan Babu and Vishnu. Police indicated that questioning of the arrested individuals is continuing, and additional details may emerge based on the outcome of the investigation.
Investigation Continues
Tirupati police stated that all aspects of the case, including the role of the accused, use of vehicles, and allegations raised in the cross-complaint, are under detailed examination. Authorities have not disclosed further procedural steps at this stage.
The case remains under active investigation, and officials said legal action will proceed based on evidence gathered during the ongoing probe.
