Telangana Education Department Orders Half-Day Schools From March 16
Decision taken due to rising summer temperatures
The Telangana Education Department has issued instructions to conduct half-day classes in schools starting March 16 due to increasing summer heat across the state.
Officials stated that the decision was taken as temperatures have been rising steadily in recent days. The revised schedule is intended to reduce students’ exposure to extreme heat during the afternoon hours.
New school timings announced
According to the orders issued by the Education Department, schools will function from 8:00 am to 12:30 pm under the revised system.
The instructions apply to all government, private, and aided schools across Telangana. Authorities have directed school managements to strictly follow the revised timings from March 16.
Education officials clarified that the new schedule is mandatory for every category of school operating in the state. Institutions are expected to adjust their academic activities according to the updated timetable.
Private schools also directed to comply
The department has specifically stated that private schools must also follow the half-day system without exception.
Officials indicated that the order has been communicated to ensure uniform implementation across educational institutions. School administrations are required to adhere to the timings to safeguard students from the impact of increasing daytime heat.
The directive aims to maintain regular academic activities while ensuring that students are not required to remain in school during the peak afternoon temperatures.
Context: Heat conditions during summer months
In Telangana, school schedules are often adjusted during the summer period as temperatures rise significantly across several districts.
The half-day system allows schools to continue classes during the morning hours while avoiding prolonged exposure to heat during the latter part of the day.
With temperatures already increasing this month, authorities have decided to implement the revised schedule beginning March 16 across all government, private, and aided schools in the state.
