Telangana Governor Receives BRS Representation on Singareni Issues
BRS Delegation Seeks Gubernatorial Intervention on Singareni Issues
A delegation of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders, comprising Members of the Legislative Assembly, Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Council, and senior party functionaries, met Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma at Lok Bhavan in Hyderabad. The delegation was led by BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao.
During the meeting, the delegation submitted a detailed representation requesting the Governor’s intervention in what it described as irregularities related to tenders, procurement processes, policy decisions, and corporate social responsibility activities of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL).
Concerns Raised Over Tender and Procurement Processes
The representation focused on alleged procedural lapses and deviations in tendering and procurement within SCCL. The delegation claimed that these issues warranted scrutiny due to the strategic and economic importance of the public sector undertaking to Telangana.
Singareni Collieries Company Limited remains a key state-owned enterprise, with operations and revenues closely linked to the state’s industrial and employment landscape. The delegation stated that any irregularities within the organization have broader administrative and public implications.
Allegations Linked to Naini Coal Block and CSR Funds
As part of the submission, the BRS leaders provided documents and attachments pertaining to alleged irregularities in the allocation of the Naini Coal Block. The delegation also raised concerns over the alleged misuse of SCCL’s corporate social responsibility funds.
According to the representation, these issues reflected a pattern that required independent examination. The delegation urged that the materials submitted be reviewed in detail to assess compliance with established norms and policies.
Request for Inquiry and Administrative Oversight
The delegation requested the Governor to intervene and facilitate a thorough probe into the matters raised. They emphasized that SCCL is a public asset of Telangana and that accountability must be ensured in its functioning.
The concerns raised by the BRS come amid continued political focus on Singareni’s operations. Similar allegations regarding contract-related issues in the company have been raised earlier, including claims made by senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao on procurement practices, which were reported previously by City Buzz Daily in the context of Singareni contract irregularities.
The Governor’s office has not issued any official response following the submission of the representation.
