Telangana Cabinet Approves Rythu Bharosa Fund Release, Reviews Budget Plans
Key Cabinet Meeting Under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy
The Telangana Cabinet meets on Monday, February 23, at the Secretariat under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. The meeting focuses on finalising the schedule for the upcoming Assembly budget session and reviewing proposals related to the annual state budget. A detailed agenda covering welfare, infrastructure, and administrative matters is taken up for discussion.
In this context, the Cabinet also reviews several governance priorities outlined in the ongoing policy framework, as reported earlier in the government’s policy review meeting Telangana Cabinet meeting under CM Revanth Reddy.
Approval for Employee Health Contribution and Land Allocation
The Cabinet is set to approve a 1.5 percent deduction from basic pay to support the cashless medical treatment scheme for government employees under the Employees Health Care Trust. Modalities and implementation procedures are part of the discussion.
Land allocation for residential schools, District Cooperative Central Bank (DCCB) buildings, and other institutions is also on the agenda. The government aims to strengthen education and the cooperative sectors through these infrastructure decisions.
Metro Expansion, Musi Project, and Welfare Funding
Ministers review progress on Hyderabad Metro Rail takeover status, expansion plans, and additional coach deployment to address traffic congestion in the city. The Cabinet also discusses steps to accelerate the Musi River rejuvenation project.
Approval is expected for the release of Rythu Bharosa funds for the Yasangi season. Administrative clearance for continuing Devadula Package-3 works is also likely to be granted. The Cabinet may also clear the employee adjustment process in the newly formed GHMC, Cyberabad, and Malkajgiri corporations.
Budget Planning and Assembly Session Timeline
The state’s financial position and revenue projections are examined as part of the annual budget preparation. The government is considering convening the Assembly budget session in the first week of March to secure legislative approval for financial proposals.
Local Body Elections Likely After Academic Schedule
The Cabinet is unlikely to announce the schedule for MPTC and ZPTC elections at present. Ongoing district-level training for DCCB operations and the upcoming Assembly session are seen as administrative constraints.
With Intermediate and Class 10 board examinations approaching, officials from education, revenue, and police departments remain fully engaged. The government is inclined to hold local body elections only after the completion of examinations and other priority administrative commitments.
