Japanese Legislative Delegation Visits Telangana Legislature
A delegation from Japan’s Aichi Prefecture Legislative Assembly visited the Telangana State Legislature on Tuesday as part of an official engagement aimed at strengthening institutional and cultural ties. The visit was led by Hirohito Kondo and included nine members of the Aichi Prefecture Assembly associated with the Economic Development Forum.
Telangana Leaders Highlight India–Japan Historical Ties
Telangana Legislative Council Chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy and Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar stated that India and Japan have shared long-standing historical relations rooted in mutual respect and cooperation. They noted that Telangana’s cultural heritage and traditions reflect values that align with the enduring friendship between the two countries.
The leaders emphasised that people-to-people and legislative interactions play a key role in reinforcing bilateral understanding beyond formal diplomatic channels.
Formal Welcome at State Assembly
The visiting Japanese delegation was formally received at the State Assembly premises. Along with the Speaker and Council Chairman, Legislative Council Secretary Dr V. Narasimha Charyulu and Assembly Secretary Rendl Thirupathi were present during the reception. The visit marked a rare legislative-level interaction between Telangana and Japan’s regional representatives.
Following the welcome, the delegation held a detailed meeting in the Speaker’s chamber, where discussions covered governance structures, legislative processes, and areas of potential cooperation.
Briefing on Telangana’s Legislative Framework
During the interaction, Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar provided an overview of the formation of Telangana state, the structure of its legislature, the number of elected representatives, and the electoral system followed in the state. The briefing offered the Japanese lawmakers an insight into Telangana’s democratic institutions and administrative functioning.
The discussions were held in a cordial atmosphere, reflecting the broader intent of fostering institutional exchanges and enhancing mutual understanding between regional governments.
