Two Dead, Three Injured in Early Morning Road Accident Near Mittapalli, Tallada

A tragic road accident occurred during the early hours of Monday near Mittapalli village in Tallada mandal, Khammam district, resulting in the death of two persons on the spot and leaving three others seriously injured, according to police reports.
The accident took place at around 5:30 AM near Shankar Dhaba, when a car traveling from Kalluru towards Tallada collided head-on with a lorry coming from the opposite direction. The impact of the crash was severe, leaving the car badly damaged and the passengers trapped inside.
Police stated that the two individuals who died on the spot were part of a group returning after completing a Puri Jagannath Yatra. The deceased were identified as:
- Chillara Balakrishna – Car driver
- Rayala Anil
Both victims were residents of Jaffergadh in Jangaon district, officers confirmed.
Following the collision, the injured were immediately shifted by 108 emergency ambulance services to Khammam Government Hospital for treatment. The three injured have been identified as:
- Ajay
- Kollipaka Kranthi
- Gattu Rakesh
All three are reported to be from Uppugallu village, Station Ghanpur mandal.
Tallada Police Sub-Inspector Venkatesh (2) and his team reached the accident site shortly after receiving the information. The police recovered the bodies stuck inside the vehicle and sent them to the government hospital mortuary for post-mortem.
A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances that led to the collision. Police suspect overspeeding or visibility issues during early morning hours may have contributed to the accident.
Authorities urged motorists to exercise caution, especially on highway routes during night and early morning travel.
