Supreme Court Directs Speaker to Provide Defection Case Order Copies
Hearing concludes on petitions filed by BRS
The Supreme Court has concluded its hearing on petitions filed by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) regarding the MLA defection case. The bench announced that the proceedings related to the petitions had been completed.
The case pertains to petitions submitted by the BRS seeking action over the issue of legislators changing party affiliation. The matter was heard by the apex court after the petitions were brought before it for judicial consideration.
Speaker’s counsel informs court about decision
During the hearing, senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, appearing on behalf of the Speaker, informed the court that the Speaker had already delivered a decision on the petitions filed by the BRS.
The counsel stated that the Speaker had passed the order in relation to the matter. The Supreme Court bench took note of this submission during the proceedings.
The bench agreed with the submissions made by Abhishek Singhvi regarding the status of the Speaker’s decision.
BRS counsel raises concern over order copies
However, the lawyer representing the BRS informed the court that copies of the Speaker’s order had not yet been received by the petitioners.
The counsel stated that despite the Speaker’s decision being mentioned in court, the petitioners had not been provided with the official order copies so far.
The issue was placed before the bench for clarification regarding access to the decision and related documentation.
Supreme Court issues directions to Speaker
After hearing the arguments from both sides, the Supreme Court issued specific directions to the Speaker regarding the documents connected to the case.
The court directed the Speaker to provide copies of the order to the petitioners within two days. The bench also instructed that the records and other details sought by the petitioners in connection with the case should be furnished within four days.
With these directions, the Supreme Court concluded the hearing related to the petitions filed by the BRS in the MLA defection matter.
