Temple Authorities Announce Record Hundi Income at Srisailam Shrine
Surge in offerings during Ugadi festivities
Nandyal (Srisailam): The Srisailam Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy temple has recorded a significant rise in hundi income during the Ugadi festival period. Temple authorities confirmed that offerings received over the past 30 days reached a notable level.
The increase is attributed to higher devotee footfall during the festive season, with pilgrims making contributions as part of their religious observances.
Cash collections cross Rs 7.19 crore
According to Executive Officer Srinivasa Rao, the temple received Rs 7,19,58,064 in cash offerings over the last month. The hundee collections were counted under tight security arrangements on Saturday.
The counting process was carried out following established procedures to ensure accuracy and transparency in handling temple funds.
Gold, silver and foreign currency offered
In addition to cash donations, devotees also contributed valuables. Temple authorities reported that offerings included 122 grams of gold and 6.5 kilograms of silver.
Foreign currency from multiple countries was also deposited in the hundee, reflecting the participation of devotees from different regions.
Counting conducted under supervision
The hundi counting exercise was held with strict vigilance measures in place. Officials oversaw the process to ensure proper documentation and handling of all contributions.
Such periodic counting of offerings is part of routine temple administration, particularly during high-footfall periods like festivals.
Context of festival inflow
Ugadi, being a major festival, traditionally sees increased pilgrim visits to temples across the region. Srisailam, as a prominent shrine, witnesses a steady rise in offerings during this period each year.
The latest figures indicate a continuation of this trend, with temple authorities recording one of the highest collection levels in recent times.
