Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Assures Rehabilitation in Musi Riverfront Development
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy stated that the government will ensure complete support for people affected by development projects, particularly those linked to the Musi Riverfront development in Hyderabad.
Speaking at a public event on March 7 in Hyderabad, the Chief Minister said the government will ensure that displaced families receive compensation and rehabilitation without being left without support.
Assurance on Rehabilitation for Displaced Families
Revanth Reddy said development projects sometimes lead to difficulties for certain residents, but the government will not abandon anyone affected by such initiatives.
He stated that individuals who lose land or houses due to new infrastructure projects will be provided appropriate compensation. The government will also arrange rehabilitation with necessary facilities, ensuring displaced families can rebuild their lives.
The Chief Minister emphasised that the government’s approach is to implement development while protecting the interests of people living in the affected areas.
Foundation for Radial Road–2 and Eco Park Launch
During the visit, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for the Radial Road–2 interchange connecting Budwel Layout. He also inaugurated an Eco Park at Kotwalaguda.
Addressing the gathering, Revanth Reddy spoke about the need to modernise urban infrastructure in response to changing urban conditions.
He observed that the Musi River is currently filled with pollution, and the city’s development plans must adapt to changing times to address such issues.
Musi Riverfront Development Plan
The Chief Minister said the government plans to develop the Musi Riverfront in Hyderabad, drawing inspiration from riverfront projects such as the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad, the Yamuna Riverfront in Delhi, and the Ganga Riverfront in Uttar Pradesh.
The project aims to improve the surroundings of the river while creating new opportunities for economic activity.
He stated that the development plan will also encourage night-time business activities, promoting night tourism in the city.
Rehabilitation and Housing Plans
Revanth Reddy said families losing land under the Musi Riverfront project will be rehabilitated through Indiramma housing constructed on government land within their respective constituencies.
He noted that many residents currently live in difficult conditions near polluted areas due to circumstances. The government’s goal, he said, is to relocate them to better housing with improved facilities.
Infrastructure and Future Development Plans
The Chief Minister also referred to other major infrastructure projects, including the Regional Ring Road, radial roads, and the bullet train project, which may require land acquisition.
He acknowledged that landowners may face difficulties during such projects, but stated that the government understands their concerns and will provide compensation sufficient to purchase land elsewhere.
Revanth Reddy further said Shamshabad is expected to develop into a bullet train hub, with proposed connectivity to Bengaluru, Amaravati, and Chennai. He stated that most approvals for the project have already been obtained.
Vision for Hyderabad’s Development
The Chief Minister said Hyderabad, known for its historic landmarks, remains one of the world’s prominent cities but requires renewed efforts to improve its urban environment.
He stated that the government aims to transform Hyderabad into a globally competitive city and is working toward building a large-scale urban development project called “Bharat Future City.”
The event was attended by MPs Mallu Ravi and Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, Legislative Council Chief Whip Mahender Reddy, MLAs Prakash Goud and Mal Reddy Rangareddy, along with other public representatives.
