Pune Police register case after gun photo shoot leaves minor injured
A social media-driven photo shoot attempt turned dangerous in Pune after a minor boy was seriously injured when a country-made firearm accidentally discharged during filming.
The incident occurred in Keshavnagar area, raising concerns over the growing trend of risky stunts among youth for online content.
Unlicensed firearm used during video shoot
According to available details, four individuals — Yuvaraj Gaikwad (19), Om Durga Gaikwad (19), Sonu (21), and a minor — had gathered to shoot photos and videos using a gun.
The group had procured an unlicensed country-made weapon and began posing with it one after another as part of a planned social media shoot.
Accidental firing injures minor
During the shoot, Sonu reportedly pointed the gun towards the minor as part of a joke while capturing photos. The weapon accidentally fired, and the bullet struck the boy in the waist.
The injured minor was immediately rushed to a hospital by the group after they realised the seriousness of the situation.
Police action and arrests
Pune Police registered a case following the incident and arrested Sonu along with the other two individuals involved. Authorities confirmed that the act was not intentional but occurred during a social media reel attempt.
Police officials stated that the group’s actions were driven by the urge to create content for social media platforms.
Probe into weapon source underway
Investigators are now examining how the unlicensed firearm came into the possession of the youths. The focus remains on tracing the origin of the weapon and determining any wider violations.
The incident has highlighted safety risks associated with reckless behaviour linked to online trends, particularly involving weapons and hazardous acts.
