Later, after discussions with the deceased’s nephew Sharath, the amount was reduced to Rs.40,000.

Following the demand, the family approached the Anti-Corruption Bureau. Acting on the complaint, ACB officials laid a trap in connection with the Postmortem Report Bribery Case.
As part of the operation, Nagesh first accepted Rs.5,000. Later, while receiving the remaining Rs.35,000, he was caught red-handed.
