Student Suicide Allegations Surface at Lakshmidevipalli Sri Chaitanya School
A Class 10 student studying at Sri Chaitanya School in Lakshmidevipalli allegedly died by suicide on Friday, with family members accusing school authorities of harassment and mental pressure. The incident has triggered distress among students and residents in the area.
The deceased has been identified as Nitish (15), a student of the institution. According to family members and fellow students, the boy had been facing difficulties at the school after he was shifted from his original section to another section recently.
Allegations of Harassment After Section Change
Nitish was earlier studying in one section but was later moved to the K2 section. Family members allege that the student had been facing harassment for nearly three months after the change. His mother, Mounika, claimed that the situation became increasingly difficult for him during this period.
Mounika, who belongs to Koyagudem in Tekulapalli mandal, had been living in Ashok Nagar in Lakshmidevipalli mandal to support her son’s education. She works as a tailor while ensuring that her son continued his studies in the school.
The mother alleged that she had approached school authorities, including the principal and the dean, requesting them to allow the student to remain in the same section. She claimed that despite repeated pleas, the request was not considered.
Transfer to Another Campus
According to the family, the student was later shifted from the Lakshmidevipalli school to another campus in Kothagudem. The decision reportedly caused distress to the boy, who had expressed his concerns to classmates on several occasions.
On Friday, when his mother was not at home, Nitish allegedly died by suicide by hanging at their residence. The incident came to light shortly afterwards, leaving family members and neighbours shocked.
Classmates who knew the student expressed grief over the incident and stated that he had previously shared his emotional distress with them.
Police Register Case, Investigation Underway
Lakshmidevipalli Sub-Inspector Ramanareddy said that a case has been registered under suspicious death. Police have begun an investigation into the circumstances leading to the incident.
The body was shifted to the hospital for post-mortem examination. Officials said further details would emerge after the completion of the investigation.
Meanwhile, students and local residents have expressed anguish over the incident and demanded strict action if the allegations of harassment are confirmed.
