Modi Releases PM Kisan Installment for Farmers on March 13
PM Narendra Modi to Release PM Kisan Installment in Guwahati on March 13
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to release the latest installment of financial assistance under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi on March 13. The funds will be released during a programme scheduled in Guwahati.
According to official information, the Prime Minister will transfer the funds to beneficiaries’ bank accounts at 5 pm on Friday. Following the release, farmers across the country are expected to receive ₹2,000 directly in their accounts under the scheme.
Government Sends Alerts to Beneficiaries
Ahead of the fund release, the Union government has started sending SMS alerts to registered beneficiaries. These messages are being issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare to inform farmers about the scheduled transfer.
The SMS message invites beneficiaries to join the event virtually. It provides a webcast link where farmers can watch the programme and interact with the Prime Minister online.
The message notes that the PM Kisan installment will be released from Guwahati and encourages beneficiaries to participate in the live webcast. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has also invited farmers to join the event through the official broadcast link.
Interaction With Farmers During Event
During the programme, the Prime Minister is expected to interact with selected farmers through a virtual platform. The interaction will allow farmers to share their experiences and raise issues related to agriculture and welfare schemes.
Officials said the initiative is aimed at strengthening communication between the government and beneficiaries of the PM Kisan scheme. Farmers participating through the webcast may also get an opportunity to directly speak with the Prime Minister.
Coverage of Women Farmers Under PM Kisan
Across the country, about 2.15 crore women farmers are currently benefiting from the PM Kisan scheme. The programme provides direct financial assistance to eligible farmers through periodic transfers.
The previous installment of the scheme was released in November last year in Tamil Nadu. The government distributes the financial assistance in three installments every year.
Under the scheme, ₹6,000 is provided annually to farmers in three equal installments. Each installment transfers ₹2,000 directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
Reverification Led to a Delay in the Current Installment
The first installment for the current year is being released on March 13. Typically, the initial payment is credited in February each year.
However, the release was delayed this time due to a beneficiary reverification process carried out by the government. During this exercise, about 1.30 lakh ineligible beneficiaries were identified and removed from the list.
Officials said the verification was conducted to ensure that the scheme benefits only eligible farmers.
