Delayed certification impacts advance momentum
Anticipation around the film’s release had been tempered by uncertainty over its certification. Much like Jana Nayagan, Parasakthi faced delays in receiving clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification, which only came through on the eve of release. As a result, advance bookings were not fully opened, limiting pre-release momentum. Despite this, the film found support on opening day through strong over-the-counter ticket sales.
Comparable to Madharaasi, but well behind Amaran
In terms of early performance, Parasakthi has mirrored the opening morning occupancy of Madharaasi, which also registered 46% during its first morning shows. However, it remains significantly behind Amaran, which had posted a notably higher 64% occupancy in the same time slot on its opening day.
Evening prospects hinge on word of mouth
While the initial numbers point to a solid start, expectations for a sharp rise in evening and night shows appear cautious. Early audience feedback from the morning screenings has reportedly been mixed, with reactions ranging from average to below average. Such word of mouth could limit a surge in spot bookings later in the day.
As the day progresses, all eyes will be on whether Parasakthi can hold its ground through the evening and night shows, a key factor in determining the strength of its opening-day box office performance.
