Palnadu Police Register Case After Doctor’s Family Suicide Attempt
Incident reported at Narasaraopeta lodge
A case has been registered in Palnadu district after a doctor’s family allegedly attempted suicide at a lodge in Narasaraopeta. The incident resulted in the death of the wife and a three-year-old child.
The husband, identified as Gopi, was found alive and has been shifted to the hospital for treatment.
The family arrives from Bhopal before the incident
Gopi, a doctor working at AIIMS Bhopal, and his wife Shankarakumari (30), a nurse at the same hospital, had traveled to Narasaraopeta. The family hails from Satuluru village in Nadendla mandal.
They checked into a lodge after arriving from Bhopal. The incident is believed to have occurred during their stay.
Lodge staff alert police after no response
On Sunday, lodge staff grew suspicious when there was no response from the room for an extended period. They broke open the door and found Shankarakumari and the couple’s three-year-old daughter, Mounika, unresponsive.
Gopi was found in a critical condition inside the room, following which the police were informed.
Victims shifted; investigation initiated
Police reached the location and shifted Gopi to the hospital as he was battling for life. The bodies of the deceased were taken for further procedures.
A case has been registered, and authorities have begun an investigation into the circumstances leading to the incident.
Preliminary suspicion of injection overdose
Initial assessment suggests that the family may have attempted suicide using an injection. However, the exact cause is yet to be confirmed.
