Transport Department Introduces Online Vehicle Registration
Transport Department Introduces Fully Online System for Vehicle Registrations
The Transport Department has introduced a new system for permanent vehicle registrations starting Friday. The department confirmed that the updated process has come into force from today and will apply to all vehicle registration procedures.
Under the revised system, the permanent registration process will now be carried out completely online. Officials stated that physical submission of documents will no longer be accepted under the new procedure.
Dealers Required to Submit Documents Online
As part of the updated rules, vehicle dealers must upload all required documents digitally. The department said that after a temporary registration is issued, dealers must submit the required forms and supporting documents within seven days.
These include Form 20 and other mandatory documents along with the signatures of the vehicle owner and the financier. The documents must be uploaded through the online system for further processing.
Officials Directed to Approve Applications Within Two Working Days
The Transport Department has also issued instructions to officials regarding processing timelines. Authorities have been directed to verify and approve the submitted applications within two working days after receiving the documents online.
The move is expected to streamline the registration process and reduce dependency on manual paperwork.
Warning Against Submission of Fake Documents
The department has warned dealers and applicants against uploading forged or false documents. Officials stated that strict criminal action will be taken if fake documents are submitted through the online system.
The Transport Department said the new procedure is intended to ensure faster processing while maintaining transparency in the vehicle registration process.
