The circumstances surrounding the death of software professional Vijaya Shanti Reddy have been clarified by Medipalli police. Investigators confirmed that she died by suicide along with her children due to depression and ongoing health issues. Officials stated that no suspicious elements were found during the inquiry.
Police examined WhatsApp chats and call data as part of the investigation. The analysis did not reveal any external pressure, threat, or criminal angle linked to the deaths. Authorities concluded that the case was driven by personal and medical distress rather than any outside influence.
Family Seeks Action Against False Reports
Following the police clarification, Vijaya Reddy’s brother Chiranjeevi approached Medipalli Police Station, alleging that certain media channels were publishing false and damaging reports about the family. He said the family cared deeply for Vijaya Shanti Reddy and her children and rejected allegations suggesting otherwise.
Chiranjeevi demanded action against organisations spreading incorrect information. He requested that defamation notices be issued against those responsible for publishing misleading reports that caused mental distress to the grieving family.
Police Respond on Legal Course
Medipalli police informed the complainant that they would not register a criminal case in this matter. However, the family was advised to pursue legal remedies through defamation proceedings if they wished to take action against the media organisations concerned.
Chiranjeevi reiterated that several meaningful issues exist in society that deserve media attention, rather than unverified claims about families already dealing with loss. He also expressed concern that certain reports appeared motivated after he declined to give an interview to one channel.
The developments come amid continued public attention on family death cases in the city, including the Hyderabad police case in the Charlapalli family deaths, where authorities also examined the circumstances surrounding a similar incident.
