Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu crosses ₹165 cr in India
Strong opening week extends into second weekend
Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, directed by Anil Ravipudi, has continued its steady theatrical run into its second weekend, crossing the ₹165 crore mark at the domestic box office by the end of day eight. The film, led by Chiranjeevi with Nayanthara in a key role, released on January 12 ahead of the Sankranthi holiday period.
Early momentum from the festival window has helped the film maintain consistent footfalls across major centers, even as weekday collections began to taper.
Day-wise earnings show sustained momentum
Industry tracker Sacnilk reported that the film opened with ₹9.35 crore from premiere shows. Day one collections stood at ₹32.25 crore, followed by ₹18.75 crore on day two and ₹19.5 crore on day three. The film saw an uptick on day four, collecting ₹22 crore.
Subsequent days remained stable, with ₹19.5 crore on day five, ₹18.9 crore on day six, and ₹17.65 crore on day seven. On day eight, early estimates place net domestic earnings at ₹7.21 crore. Cumulatively, the film has reached ₹165.11 crore net in India.
Previous Chiranjeevi releases surpassed
With these numbers, Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu has moved past the lifetime domestic collections of several earlier Chiranjeevi films. Bholaa Shankar closed at ₹30.63 crore, Acharya at ₹56.14 crore, Godfather at ₹74.03 crore, and Waltair Veerayya at ₹161.06 crore.
The current film has now edged ahead of Waltair Veerayya, marking one of the stronger box office performances in the actor’s recent filmography.
Mixed critical response, strong audience pull
Despite its commercial success, the film has received mixed reviews from critics. However, audience turnout, particularly during the festive period, has remained strong enough to support continued runs in multiple regions.
Producers have responded to demand by increasing show counts. Shine Screens announced the addition of extra shows and screens across centres, citing public demand as the reason for the expansion.
Storyline and production details
The film also features Venkatesh and Catherine Tresa. It follows Shankara Vara Prasad, a national security officer attempting to protect his estranged wife and children from a vengeful former cop, while seeking to repair fractured family ties after six years apart.
The title is derived from Chiranjeevi’s birth name, Sivasankara Varaprasad. The project is produced by Sahu Garapati and Sushmita Konidela.
