Lucknow Police Probe Patricide Linked to Exam Pressure
A disturbing crime has come to light in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow, where a young man allegedly killed his father following repeated disputes over competitive examinations. The accused, identified as Akash Pratap Singh, is a B.Com graduate who had been preparing for job opportunities and competitive tests.
Police said the victim, Manvendra Pratap Singh, owned Vardhman Pathology Lab and was known in the local community. The family lived in Lucknow, where the incident took place on the 20th of this month after a heated argument between father and son over exam preparation and career pressure.
Heated Argument Turns Fatal
According to the investigation, the dispute escalated during the day, leading Akash to shoot his father with a firearm in a moment of anger. After the killing, he allegedly moved the body to an unused room on the ground floor of the house.
Investigators said the accused then dismembered the body. Some remains were disposed of in a nearby village identified as Sadoran, while other parts were kept inside a drum within the house premises.
Missing Complaint Leads to Breakthrough
Police initially registered a missing case after Manvendra Pratap Singh could not be traced. Suspicion grew during questioning, and inconsistencies in the son’s statements prompted deeper interrogation.
During the search of the house, officers recovered body parts from the ground-floor room, confirming foul play. The accused subsequently revealed details of the crime during questioning.
Focus on Mental Stress and Family Conflict
The incident has drawn attention to intense academic and career-related pressure within families. Authorities continue to investigate the sequence of events, including how the weapon was accessed and the timeline of disposal of the body.
