Family abandons ill man at cremation ground, authorities shift him to hospital
Incident reported in Jagityal town
A disturbing incident was reported in Jagityal on Friday, where a man suffering from severe illness was allegedly left at a cremation ground by his family while he was still alive.
The individual has been identified as Endrikayala Sridhar (49), a resident of the Manchineella Bavi area in the town. He is survived by his wife, Sunitha, and two daughters.
Background of family and overseas employment
According to local accounts, Sridhar had travelled to Saudi Arabia about five years ago in search of employment and was working for a company there. Though he was reportedly earning a decent salary, he is said to have developed personal habits that led to neglect of his family.
During this period, his wife Sunitha continued to live in Jagityal and supported their daughters by working as a daily wage labourer.
Health condition worsens after return
Recently, Sridhar developed serious health complications, following which his employer reportedly sent him back to India. After returning home, his family arranged for local medical treatment.
However, his condition deteriorated further due to kidney-related complications, leading to severe illness.
Alleged abandonment at the cremation ground
On Thursday night, family members allegedly left Sridhar at the Chintakunta cremation ground in the town. The matter came to light on Friday afternoon when passersby noticed him lying there and alerted 108 emergency services.
Emergency personnel reached the spot and shifted him in an ambulance to the district headquarters hospital for treatment.
Conflicting accounts from family and locals
Sridhar has reportedly stated that his wife and brother were not taking care of him. Meanwhile, local residents claimed that Sridhar had earlier neglected the welfare of his wife and children, forcing them to move to Sunitha’s parental home in Gandhinagar.
Treatment underway at the district hospital
At present, doctors at the district hospital are providing medical treatment to Sridhar. Further details on his health condition are awaited.
