Iran Missile Hits Bahrain Refinery as Middle East War Expands
Iran Missile Hits Bahrain Oil Refinery as Regional Conflict Widens
An Iranian missile struck a state-run oil refinery in Bahrain on Thursday night, authorities confirmed, marking the latest Iran missile Bahrain refinery attack targeting the Gulf regionโs critical energy infrastructure.
Officials said the fire triggered by the strike was quickly brought under control, and the refinery continued operating. Authorities confirmed that there were no casualties from the incident.
The attack marks another strike linked to the widening regional conflict, where oil facilities across the Gulf have increasingly become strategic targets.
Iran Missile Strike Targets Bahrain Refinery
The Iran missile Bahrain refinery attack came as Tehran launched a new wave of strikes against Israel, American military bases, and other locations across the Middle East on Thursday.
The escalation continued even as Israel and the United States carried out nationwide strikes on Iran for a sixth consecutive day. Military operations from both sides have intensified daily since the conflict began earlier in the week.
The expanding hostilities have now affected at least 14 countries across the region and beyond.
Regional Tensions Spread Across Multiple Fronts
Azerbaijan on Thursday accused Iran of carrying out drone attacks near the airport in Nakhchivan, a region bordering Iran but separated from the rest of Azerbaijan by Armenia. The countryโs prosecutor general said four civilians working at the airport were wounded.
Iranโs general staff of the armed forces denied launching drones toward Azerbaijan and rejected the accusations.
Meanwhile, Israel reported multiple incoming missile attacks during the day, with air raid sirens sounding in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. The Israeli military said it carried out additional strikes targeting Iranian ballistic missile launch sites.
Shipping Routes and Oil Infrastructure at Risk
The conflict has also raised concerns over maritime security and global oil supply routes. A tanker reportedly experienced an explosion off the coast of Kuwait early Thursday, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Center run by the British military.
Since the war began on Saturday, ships have been attacked in the Gulf of Oman and the Strait of Hormuz. The corridor carries roughly one-fifth of the worldโs oil supply, making it a critical global energy route.
Iranโs expanding attacks have already disrupted oil infrastructure in parts of the Gulf and complicated international air travel across the region.
Fighting Intensifies in Lebanon
Israel also issued an evacuation warning for residents of Beirutโs southern suburbs as tensions escalated with Hezbollah militants.
The Israeli military said it had struck around 80 targets in Lebanon in the previous 24 hours, including several command centers used by Hezbollah in Beirut.
U.N. peacekeepers monitoring the area reported observing ground combat in southern Lebanon near the village of Kfar Kila. Air attacks, explosions, and flares were also reported in the nearby town of Khiyam.
Casualties Mount as Conflict Expands
Officials say the war has killed at least 1,230 people in Iran, more than 100 in Lebanon, and around a dozen in Israel. Six U.S. troops have also been reported killed.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi condemned the sinking of the Iranian frigate IRIS Dena earlier this week, accusing the U.S. Navy of committing โan atrocity at sea.โ
Sri Lankan authorities said the vessel sank in waters off the country after the attack, with at least 87 bodies recovered, while 32 crew members were rescued.
The Iran missile Bahrain refinery strike and other attacks across the region underline the growing scale of the conflict and the rising risks to energy infrastructure and shipping routes across the Middle East.
