IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Multiple Telangana Districts Over Rainfall
The India Meteorological Department has warned of widespread rainfall accompanied by hailstorms across Telangana for four days beginning March 15. The department has issued yellow alerts for several districts as weather conditions are expected to change across the state.
According to the forecast, rainfall is likely to occur from Sunday to Tuesday across many parts of Telangana. Officials said a few districts may also experience heavy rainfall during this period.
Yellow Alert for 18 Districts on Sunday
The weather department has issued a yellow alert for 18 districts on Sunday. These include Adilabad, Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagityal, Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Medak, and Kamareddy.
Authorities warned that hailstorms are likely in the districts where the alert has been issued. Residents and local administrations have been advised to remain cautious during the period of expected weather activity.
Alerts Expand to 32 Districts on Monday
The alert is expected to expand further on Monday. In addition to the previously listed districts, the weather department has included Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar and Nagarkurnool.
With these additions, rainfall is likely across 32 districts on Monday. Officials indicated that the probability of hailstorms remains higher in districts placed under alert.
No formal alerts have been issued for Tuesday and Wednesday, but the department stated that rainfall may still occur in several parts of the state during those days.
Temperatures Cross 40 Degrees in Two Districts
Even as rainfall is forecast, temperatures have continued to rise in several districts. On Thursday, maximum temperatures crossed the 40-degree mark in two locations.
Bhadrachalam recorded the highest temperature at 40.2 degrees Celsius. Mahabubnagar also recorded a temperature of 40 degrees Celsius.
Other districts reported slightly lower but still high temperatures. Adilabad recorded 39.3 degrees, Khammam 39 degrees, Nizamabad 38.8 degrees, and Ramagundam 38 degrees. Hyderabad registered a maximum temperature of 37.2 degrees Celsius.
Heat and Rain Likely to Continue Together
The weather department said that, along with the expected rainfall, heat conditions may continue across the state. Fluctuating weather patterns are expected over the coming days, with both high temperatures and rain activity occurring in different regions.
Authorities are monitoring the situation and have advised people to remain alert, particularly in districts where hailstorms are likely during the alert period.
