Hyderabad Police Register Case After Recruitment Firm Owner Murder

A recruitment consultancy operator was killed inside his office in Hyderabad following a dispute over Rs.1,000, police said. The incident occurred on Monday in the jurisdiction of Madhura Nagar police station and has triggered an investigation into the murder.

The victim has been identified as J. Shashikiran Reddy (36), a resident of Ellareddyguda and a native of Eluru in Andhra Pradesh. He was running Varahi Manpower Recruitment Consultancy in Madhura Nagar.

Dispute over refund leads to confrontation

According to police accounts, a man identified as Prabhu Kumar from Nalgonda had approached the consultancy seeking employment. Shashikiran Reddy reportedly asked him to pay Rs.2,500 for arranging a job.

After receiving the payment, the consultancy placed Prabhu Kumar in a job at Hilton company in Banjara Hills on February 24. However, the employee reportedly left the job after working for two days and returned to the consultancy seeking a refund.

Shashikiran Reddy returned Rs.1,500 to him, but the remaining Rs.1,000 was not repaid immediately. Police said the disagreement over the balance amount led to repeated arguments.

Threats reported before the incident

Investigators said Prabhu Kumar had visited the Varahi office several times demanding the remaining Rs.1,000. During these visits, he allegedly threatened Shashikiran Reddy, warning him of consequences if the money was not returned.

On Monday around 2 pm, Prabhu Kumar reportedly arrived at the office again. He first spoke with an employee named Laya before entering the cabin where Shashikiran Reddy was seated.

Attack inside office cabin

Police said an argument broke out inside the cabin regarding the unpaid Rs.1,000. During the altercation, Prabhu Kumar allegedly locked the cabin door from inside.

He then attacked Shashikiran Reddy with a knife, targeting his neck. Staff members outside heard the victim’s cries and tried to open the door.

After the attack, the accused opened the door while holding the knife. He reportedly threatened those present and fled from the office.

Victim dies, employee injured

Shashikiran Reddy died due to the attack. During the incident, the accused also assaulted employee Laya, who had recorded the incident on video. She sustained injuries to her left shoulder.

Following the incident, police reached the spot and registered a case based on a complaint filed by the victim’s wife, Naga Bharati.

Police search for accused

Police have launched a search operation to locate Prabhu Kumar, who is currently absconding. Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the attack and collecting further evidence.

The case is being investigated by the Madhura Nagar police as part of a homicide inquiry.
