Arrest made in twin murder cases
Filmnagar Police in Hyderabad have arrested a 29-year-old car driver in connection with two separate murder cases involving elderly women. The accused, identified as Kunasani Vasu, was taken into custody on Tuesday.
Police said the accused was involved in killing two women and stealing their gold jewellery in different incidents.
Victims identified and case details
The victims have been identified as Boinpally Yadamma (70) and Mangamma (56). Both incidents occurred at different times, but investigators found similarities during the probe.
According to police, the accused targeted elderly women and approached them under the pretext of offering assistance.
Modus operandi of the accused
Officials stated that Vasu would gain the trust of women before taking them to isolated locations on the outskirts of Hyderabad. He allegedly used his scooter to transport the victims.
Once at secluded places, he killed them and took away their gold jewellery.
Investigation links both murders
The case came to light during the investigation into the disappearance of Yadamma. While probing her case, police uncovered evidence connecting Vasu to another murder.
Further investigation established his involvement in the killing of Mangamma as well.
Motive and police action
Police suspect that the accused committed the crimes to steal gold jewellery, which he used to support a lavish lifestyle.
Following the investigation, Filmnagar Police arrested Vasu and are continuing further inquiry into the case.
